Neodymium Lighting

In the beginning, there was dark... SunSauna™ pioneered the way in the infrared sauna industry with including neodymium lighting into ALL of our sauna models. Other manufactures may claim that they can offer sunlight... but NONE of their models offer the healing power of the full spectrum lighting found in SunSauna™ !

Glass fabricated with the element Neodymium has the ability to filter light emmited from a filiment, therefor producing a more brilliant white light, close to the exact visible wavelength of the Sun! For decades this element has been used to provide illumination in indoor greenhouses. Neodymium light is capable of sustaining plants that need sunlight to survive!

Neodymium was discovered In Austria 1885 when Carl F. Auer von Welsbach separated didymium, an extract of cerite, into two new elemental components, neodymia and praseodymia, by repeated fractionation of ammonium didymium nitrate. While the free metal is a component of misch metal, (a pyrophoric alloy for lighter flints), the element was not isolated in relatively pure form until 1925. The name Neodymium has its origins in the Greek word "Neos didymos" meaning "new twin".

"We don’t claim to be as good as the sun in the sky," says Barghelame, owner of SunSauna. "But we think we’re the next best thing to it."

Far Infrared (FIR) Heat

The Sun emits a wide spectrum of light, not all of which is visible to the human eye. Part of this spectrum, between 0.4 - 1000 Micrometers, is known as Infrared.

Infrared is then broken up into three distinct categories:

Near Infrared - Commonly used in fiber optic  telecommunication because of low attenuation losses in the glass medium. Image intensifiers are sensitive to this area of the spectrum. Examples include night vision devices such as night vision goggles.

Mid Infrared - The modern application of mid infrared uses it to measure the composition of unknown samples (i.e., to do chemical analysis), using techniques invented by scientists at the USDA. It has become a very popular technique in a wide variety of industries due to it's speed, accuracy, wide applicability and avoidance of extraneous chemicals.

Far Infrared - Far Infrared Technology can be widely applied in various applications such as: saunas, medical therapy, energy saving, kitchen utensils, oven, clothes, socks...and lots more.

SunSauna™ Far Infrared heating

SunSauna™ delivers far infrared heat through our patented Intelliheat® system of fully ceramic heaters. Our heaters deliver non-directional heat directly to the occupant(s) of a SunSauna™. Intelliheat® is the fastest far infrared heating system currently available for sauna applications, allowing you to climb in tempurature from 89°F to 150°F in under 5 minutes!

Benefits of Far Infrared Heat

Throughout history, humans have been aware of the importance of the Sun for life on Earth. Solar energy is transformed by plants into chemical energy, the first step in the food chain for all living things. Modern humans use energy from the Sun as a clean, inexpensive source of power. And, sunlight and solar magnetic activity affect the Earth's climate. The Sun's heat is felt on Earth as infrared radiation.

The benefits of a Far Infrared heat are numerous. Saunas are often used in the treatment of diseases and drug addictions, as well as for general therapy and well being. SunSauna™ Intelliheat® emits FIR energy that is absorbed by human cells, causing a physical phenomenon called "resonance". Thus instantly invigorating cells, resulting in a better blood circulation and an overall improved metabolism.  FIR increases heart rate and blood circulation, crucial to maintaining one's health. The heart rate increases as more blood flow is diverted from the inner organs towards the extremities of the skin, without heightening blood pressure.

By creating an "Artificial Fever", FIR heat has a positive effect on the immune system. Often misunderstood, fever is a natural healing response of the body. The function of the immune system is increased naturally during a fever, while virus and bacterial growth is slowed, weakening its hold. This helps the body ward off invading organisms. A FIR heat treatment in the early stages of a cold or flu has been known to stop the disease before the symptoms occur.

So other infrared saunas lack Neodymium lighting?

SunSauna™, as an industry leader and pioneer, is dedicated to provide to you the most accurate, up to date information possible. SunSauna™ is the ONLY infrared sauna in the entire world to provide Neodymium lighting; and we provide it in every model we put our name behind.

Other manufactures may claim to offer the Sun's healing benefits, however, they fall short of including Nedymium lights. The light in the "other" saunas is the same light that shines in your office or grocery store.

Do other forms of light mimic the Sun like Neodymium light does?

No! Normal incandescent bulbs and florescent bulbs cannot produce as brilliant white as can Neodymium bulbs Neodymium bulbs are used in greenhouses to provide almost natural sunlight to plants who would otherwise perish without the live-giving light.

Other lights, like the ones found in your office or grocery store, have a harsh yellow tint... not ideal for producing light as close to the Sun's as possible.

Can I get a sunburn from Neodymium lights?

Absolutely no! You can never burn yourself with Neodymium lights, as long as you don't touch a hot bulb!

Neodymium light bulbs produce light as it is perceived from natural sunlight, and gives you greater color rendition as well as generating a brighter, whiter light. A Neodymium bulb does not produce the harmful UV rays that say bulbs in indoor tanning beds are capable of producing.

Will SunSauna™ give me a tan?

SunSauna™ is dedicated to your health and well-being.

While we do not provide a tanning experience in our saunas, we encourage healthy and safe Sun exposure! Go our and have fun in the Sun...

Remember though... when that's not possible, with SunSauna™, you can raise the sun on demand.

What type of heat do I feel when I'm in the sunshine?

Thats FIR! The far infrared heat that is produced by our patented Intelliheat® system is identical to that of the Sun! Your body cannot tell the difference.

So when you're sitting in a SunSauna™, you feel as though you're actually basking in the natural rays of the Sun!

How do infrared saunas and traditional saunas differ?

SunSauna™ uses infrared heat versus electric or rock heaters. By using infrared, SunSauna™ heats your body from the inside, not only the surrounding air, resulting in a heat quite similar to the kiss of a sunray on your skin... nothing like passively heated air!

How does SunSauna™ differ from other infrared saunas then?

SunSauna™ delivers BOTH the visible and far infrared portions of the spectrum. We offer more of the essential qualities of the Sun than any other infrared sauna in the world!. With a patented light therapy system, you can count on SunSauna™.

Are there other saunas out there that offer Intelliheat®?

Intelliheat® is a patented system created by SunSauna™ that will not be found in other infrared saunas. Our patented Neodymium lighting is also unique to SunSauna™. There are many companys who produce infrared saunas, but SunSauna™ is the first...
